GENE JUAREZ PROVES THAT BEAUTY IS MORE THAN SKIN DEEP
In The Wake of Tragedy, Premier Salon Hosts Extended Hours and Donates 100% of Revenue To The Twin Towers Orphan Fund

(Seattle, WA - September 27, 2001) - Gene Juarez Salons and Spas are thrilled to announce an opportunity for the people of Seattle to help children who lost their parents in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. For the first time in the history of the Gene Juarez Salons, they will be extending their operating hours and donating 100% of the proceeds of all Salon and Spa Services to The Twin Towers Orphan Fund, (www.ttof.org.).

The Twin Towers Orphan Fund is the only organization dedicated solely to the long-term welfare of children who lost one or both of their parents in the terrorist attacks. The Chicago Tribune has reported that the number of children who lost one or both parents at Cantor-Fitzgerald alone is 1,500. That firm represents about 10% of the estimated total deaths. Based on that, the number of children effected could be as high as 15,000. There is a pressing need for funds to meet the long-term necessities of housing, education and health-care for these children.

The Gene Juarez commitment to this cause is a very personal one. Gene was in New York with a group of his closest associates to attend meetings the day before the World Trade Center attacks. They had planned a sightseeing trip around New York on September 11. Having spent so much time away from his family, Gene decided to return home and spend time with his wife, young daughter and son instead of touring New York. He knew, however, that the rest of his group was starting the day on Tuesday by going to the top of the World Trade Center.

"When the planes hit, I was so grateful to be with my family," says Juarez. "But I knew that some of my closest friends and associates were not only in New York, but were supposed to be in the very buildings that I was watching burn."

As it turns out, one of Gene's associates overslept that day and as a result, the group was spared becoming part of the tragedy.

"I was so relieved," reports Juarez, " but I was also acutely aware of how many thousands of people were not going to be relieved, were going to be terrified for hours, days and weeks to come. And I couldn't help but think of all the parents who were not going to be able to pick their kids up from school. All those kids who were never going to see their parents again."

With his own daughter and son in his arms, Gene is now reaching out to all those children.

On October 6 from 5-9 PM at the Gene Juarez Spas Downtown and in Alderwood, Southcenter, Redmond and Tacoma, and October 7 from 5-9 PM at Southcenter and Tacoma, Redmond, 100% of the revenue from any Spa or Salon service will be donated to the Twin Towers Orphan Fund.

"It's a win win situation," says Gene. "The people in Seattle get to indulge in our award winning services and know that the money they spend will help look out for the future of children who really need it."
