A note from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

I am honored to share a few words in tribute to this organization and the lives it blesses.

The events of September 11, 2001, brought this nation together in a spirit of mourning and compassion. Now, more than five years later, many still mourn and still need the care of a committed and compassionate citizenry. One such group is the orphans of9/11 who suffered not only from the public nature of this tragedy, but from the loss of a beloved parent.

The Twin Towers Orphan Fund uses the generous donations it receives to defray the costs of schooling and mental and physical health services for those whose parents died on that tragic day. The children who receive this aid are being given a chance to embrace opportunities that, for a time, seemed close to them.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to this organization and its contributors for helping builder brighter futures for these courageous children and their families.

The Twin Towers Orphan Fund was founded on September 12, 2001 for the sole purpose of providing educational and welfare assistance to the children who were orphaned (who lost one or both parents) by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The mission of the Twin Towers Orphan Fund is to provide long-term higher educational assistance and mental and physical healthcare assistance for (a) children who lost parents in the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon, or onboard the four downed airliners, and (b) children of victims of future terrorist attacks.

Restoring Hope with Higher Education Assistance ~ Via individual Sec. 529 Education Saving Accounts funded in the names of the child beneficiaries, TTOF helps provide tuition assistance, room and board support, books and supplies to enrolled students at accredited two- and four-year colleges and universities and recognized trade schools.

Physical/Mental Healthcare Assistance

Reviving Spirits with Mental Healthcare Assistance ~ TTOF helps provide supplemental long-term mental heath care assistance by paying for premiums, co-pays and deductibles for individual and group counseling, where applicable, for children under the age of 18, or older if continually enrolled in institutions of higher learning.

Repairing lives with Physical Healthcare Assistance ~ TTOF helps provide for (or reimburse for) approved and nationally recognized health care insurance programs, including paying for premiums, co-pays and deductibles, where applicable, for children under the age of 18, or older if continually enrolled in institutions of higher learning.

The children experience issues related to the loss of their father, from sleeplessness to sadness and anxiety, but these are intertwined with many joyful times as well. Nearly five years ago this September terrorists forever changed the way we as a country, ourselves and our posterity, will engage daily life. The ongoing process of healing has, in part, been made possible through the benevolence of organizations like the Twin Towers Orphan Fund.

The Twin Towers Orphan Fund is essential to the mending of lives that were immediately affected by the events of 9/11. In helping to provide for those who no longer have fathers and mothers to see them through the formative years of their lives, the Twin Towers Orphan Fund contributes so these young people will have the future they deserve.
